Scholarship
Fund
for Teenage Mothers |
|
The Katherine Arnoldi
Scholarship Fund for Teenage Mothers
awards a scholarship to a graduate of the TASA program in New
York City who is going on to college. The TASA program offers
free day care and assistance to teen moms working toward their
GED. If you are a New York City (including the boroughs) teenage
mom between 13-19 years of age and on TANF or Medicaid you are
eligible for the TASA program. To apply call 212 676 7500
(Central Office) or the Intake Unit at 718 488 5455 or 718 488
5456. The graduates of the GED program are eligible for the Katherine
Arnoldi Scholarship for Teenage Mothers which supports students
in their first year of college.
The Scholarship is
a Charitable Trust invested in the
socially conscious Calvert Fund. Your tax deductible donation
to the Scholarship made directly to the Fund (no middle person,
no administrative costs, all money goes directly into the principle)
would allow more students in New York City to receive a scholarship.
To Donate: Just mail a check
to The Calvert Giving Fund, Calvert Foundation, P.O. Box 30084
Bethesda, MD 20824. Please make the check out to Calvert Foundation
with Katherine Arnoldi Scholarship Fund in the memo line. You
will recieve all the necessary receipts to take the tax deduction
for your gift so be sure to include your return address and contact
information. You can also call to make a wire transfer:

Thank you for supporting teenage mothers and encouraging
them to fight for their equal opportunity to education!

Dr. Anita Borg (1949 - 2003) devoted her adult life to revolutionizing
the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that
keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology
fields. Her combination of technical expertise and fearless vision
continues to inspire and motivate countless women to become active
participants and leaders in creating technology.

Borg Scholarship, through which
we hope to encourage women to excel in computing and technology
and become active role models and leaders.
Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates'
academic background and demonstrated leadership. A group of female
undergraduate and graduate student finalists will be chosen from
the applicant pool. The scholarship recipients will each receive
a $10,000 scholarship for the 2007-2008 academic year. Remaining finalists
will receive $1,000 each.
All scholarship recipients and finalists will be invited to visit
